Sulfadimidine acts usually bactericidal against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms like E. coli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Pasteurella and Eimeria spp. Sulphadimidine solution absorbed immediately from the gastro-intestinal tract and it provides an appropriate and therapeutic concentration in the blood.
Sulphadimidine Sodium had a similar structure to P-amino benzoic acid and to interfere with the synthesis of nucleic acids in sensitive microorganism by blocking the conversion of P-amino benzoic acid to the co-enzyme dihydrofoloic acid, a reduced form of folic acid. Their action is primarily bacteriostatic, although they may be bactericidal where concentrations of thymine are low in the surrounding medium

Sulphadimidine sodium 539.53 mg
Eq.to sulphadimidine base 500 mg

Indications:

Poultry:
Escherichia coli infection & Staphylococcal infection
Fowl Typhoid due to salmonella
Fowl Cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida infection
Control of Coryza due to Aavibacterium paragallinarium
Coccidiosis caused by various type of Eimeria

Side effects:

Crystalluia,anaemia,leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Precaution:

Do not administer sulphadimidine in poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
