Sulfadimidine acts usually bactericidal against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms like E. coli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Pasteurella and Eimeria spp.Sulfadimidin ; Sulphadimidine solution absorbed immediately from the gastro-intestinal tract and it provides an appropriate and therapeutic concentration in the blood.
Sulphadimidine Sodium had a similar structure to P-amino benzoic acid and to interfere with the synthesis of nucleic acids in sensitive microorganism by blocking the conversion of P-amino benzoic acid to the co-enzyme dihydrofoloic acid, a reduced form of folic acid. Their action is primarily bacteriostatic, although they may be bactericidal where concentrations of thymine are low in the surrounding medium

Cattle:

Side effects

Crystalluia,anaemia,leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Precaution:

Do not administer sulphadimidine in animal suffering from severe renal or hepatic insufficiency
